1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
¹⁶Rejoice evermore.¹⁷Pray without ceasing.¹⁸In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
“Be joyous in every season, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances.” This is an expression of Christ. God’s will for us is to; Rejoice always for He is our joy and His joy our strength , pray without ceasing for therein is His will found and in giving thanks to Him in all circumstances we appreciate His sovereignty for He reigns among Men, He knows the way.
Men have access to Gods divinity here on earth in agreement with God’s word, ‘let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven’.
1 Peter 3:17
For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
Without absolute resoluteness in God, one may querry God when trials persist, but must remain in a place of complete submission to Gods will for God works all things according to the council of His will. Everything unfolds according to who He is , His divinity, and in this is where we must lay out trust.
Ephesians 1:11-12
¹²In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: ¹²That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
God’s will is an expression of His character and being His righteousness, holiness, mercy and love….
It is who He is. It is defines Him and His sovereignty. When Jesus prayed, “Father, if it be your will, take this cup away from me,” He was submitting to God’s will as was anciently revealed that the messiah had to die to redeem humanity.
Mathew 26:39
³⁹And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
In the same way, when Moses struck the rock twice instead of speaking to it as God had instructed, he was not honoring God’s holiness, an attribute of His will and therefore was not permitted to bring the Israelites into the promised land. Trust and obedience are essential in honoring God’s will and person and in this doing we acknowledge our nature in Him. (We were made to be Priests)
Numbers 20:12
“Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”
In His holiness He was responding to the needs of the Israelites regarding their murmuring s about lack of water. His will is not to see a world filled with sorrow and so He gave His only begotten to have us aligned to who He is : His righteousness and holiness, immortal and eternal, free from the pain and doom of sin and its effects to become the praise of his Glory.
1 Thessalonians 4:3
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.
God desires people to be aligned to His will, His will is His word and His word is who He is, so His will is who He is, every time you are wondering what God’s will is, refer back to His word, reflect and meditate, listen keenly to get His leading, listen in to His will, reflect and rethink for as He is so are you. Look at the aspects of His character and there in You will find God’s will.
Prophetic Utterance:
I am predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will. I am the praise of His glory,
My mind is renewed to taste His good and acceptable will.
