The Sceptre of Judah: My Inheritance

Genesis 49:10
¹⁰The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Jacob makes the above decree upon his son Judah while blessing his twelve sons and his descendants to come.

In Jacob’s blessing to his twelve sons, he makes the above decree upon his son Judah and his descendants to come. In ancient times, a sceptre was a full-length staff, a symbol of Authority, and civic and military powers that a ruler had at his command.

We see the above decree come into fruition right from King David, to his son Solomon, Rehoboam, Abijah through to Zedekiah the last king of Judah paving the way for Jesus the eternal king of Kings.

We see God reaffirm the same decree to David in

2 Samuel 7:16.
¹⁶And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.”

The one who fulfils this prophecy is Jesus Christ the son of David whose kingdom is eternal.

2 Peter 1:11
¹¹For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Moreover, Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

Revelation 5:5
⁵And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Worldly Authority and sceptres are temporary, earthly kings and presidents often find the sceptre slipping out of their hands. However, the sceptre wielded by Jesus Christ will never be lost, stolen or set aside, as His Kingdom is established on earth and it is of perfect justice.

Hebrews 1:8
⁸But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

The scripture says that as Christ is so are we in this world. We Christians are the descendants of Judah, in the lineage of Jesus and we have the same sceptre or authority of Christ. Jesus in the book of John says,

John 14:12
¹²Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Our prerequisite is to believe in Jesus, and then the Authority is inherent in us. There is nothing that Jesus did that we cannot do. Christ handed us the Authority over everything in this world but the onus is on us to either take on this authority and use it for the sake of the kingdom or die like mere men. Most times, we are timid and fearful because we have no idea of the Authority in our heritage.

I believe our lives would be much better if we lived with the consciousness of our possession of the sceptre of Judah. The Bible calls us gods, but do you live like a god? The Authority given to us in Christ enables us to do all things, heal all diseases, avert impending dangers, and bring new life in dead situations and many others through Christ who strengthens us. Child of God arise and hold your sceptre handed to you by Christ because even on earth you can still sit with Christ in heavenly places and be above every natural and spiritual limitation because the sceptre shall not depart from Judah.

Prophetic Utterance:

I am a god and I live above the systems of this world. As Christ is, so am I in this world.
I walk in the inheritance of the sceptre of Judah and take Authority over every situation in my environment
Halleluya
