Gaze at His beauty!

Psalm 27:4
⁴One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

Psalm 27 is a psalm of David about protection from those who seek to kill Him. He says, “The Lord is my salvation, whom should I fear?” and “Though war rises against me, yet I will be confident.” It is a Psalm about God fighting David’s battles. David comes to God with a request for protection, and God meets him. However, what is so interesting about this psalm is what He says in verse 4 of our theme verse. More than anything, more than protection or more than what God can give; David wants to dwell with God! To see Him!

I used to ask myself, ‘’Why was God always with David?” Until I realised from his Psalms, that David was always with God. He found pleasure in spending time with God. He never ran out of what to say to Him, He poured out his heart to Him, whether He was ranting or praising, He was always speaking to his Father. What a relationship!

What about you? Do you enjoy spending time with Him? Do you like Him enough to spend the rest of your life in God’s house, gazing at His beauty?

It has been proven that real love, genuine enduring love happens as you share intimacy and understand one another. Love grows over time. In many relationships, love deepens, and strengthens as people get to know each other better, share experiences, and support each other through life’s challenges. David shows us a perfect example of what to do when living in God’s presence. Do you want to grow in your love for God? Gaze at Him and then gaze again, and gaze more, keep on gazing. To gaze on the beauty of God is to meditate on who He is, and to let ourselves be in awe of Him.

The beauty of God:
Song of Solomon 5:10,
“My beloved is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand.”

Revelation 4:3
³And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.

These verses among others give us a clue into the fact that Jesus is beautiful, but the deeper we learn about him the more we discover that everything about Him is what makes Him beautiful. Every aspect of His character and personality is awe-inspiring, fascinating, and captivating. His love, joy, humility, wisdom, faithfulness, and a thousand other traits are what make Him beautiful. Everything He is and does is absolute perfection.

The incredible thing is that as we make gazing at God a habit, the Holy Spirit will reveal more of the depths of God to us. He will continually give us more and more insight into the unsearchable riches of His glory.

I Corinthians 2:9-10
⁹But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” ¹⁰But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

Psalms 116:1-2
¹I love the Lord, because He has heard My voice and my supplications. ²Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long I live.

People will tell you so much about God, but until you seek Him for yourself, and hear Him for yourself; your relationship with Him will not grow. We learn from David, that he personally and beyond any doubt understood God’s love for him. He knew that God’s ear was inclined to him. What an assurance! When you spend time with God, you can hear Him speak to you. Not only do you become familiar with His voice, but you also get to understand His ways.

So take a few moments every day, to tune into your mind and think. Write down any thoughts that come to your mind. Some thoughts will be mundane and hasty, but others will be the very voice of God. In other words, God speaks to your mind every day with thoughts that will be creative, divine, and incredible.

Psalm 27:6
⁶For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

No one is more productive than one who spends time in God’s presence. Instead of spending your time fighting physical or spiritual battles, stay hidden in God so that anything that fights you has to face God first. When you spend enough time in the presence of God, a measure of his glory is transferred to you. You may not see it on you, but the people around you will definitely notice. You will effortlessly excel in ministry, at your workplace, in your career, and in relationships, etc.
Jesus performed spectacular miracles with just a simple word. He was a man who spent time with His Father and once He showed up anywhere, he manifested the glory of God.

Luke 9: 28-29
²⁸Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. ²⁹And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white and glistening.

The more you know God through fellowship with him, the more He is revealed in you and through you. Every time you show up anywhere, it will be said that God was here. Love, Peace, Healing, deliverance, prosperity, and abundant life among others are all the characteristics of God that will be evident wherever you show up. The presence of God will be evident in and on you.

Prophetic Utterance:

Jesus, You are beautiful! You are my peace, my calm in any storm, my stronghold, my ever-present life. As I gaze upon You, I am enthralled with your beauty. Through me, Your beauty and perfections are revealed in my world, in an ever-increasing measure through the ability of the Holy Spirit at work in me.

Guiding text:

II Corinthians 3:16-18
¹⁶Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. ¹⁷Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. ¹⁸But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
