A Kingly and Priestly life-The will of God for your life

Revelation 1:5-6
⁵And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood, ⁶and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

It’s very interesting that it was God’s choice and not ours, to wash our sins with his own blood, we didn’t ask for it, He chose to do this out of His abundant love. What a love! He did not promise to do it, He has already done it; He has already washed us from our sins. Therefore, sin is no longer an issue for a Christian.

Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

He hath made us kings! What an honor! A king is never voted into power, His power is inherent from birth. When you become born again, you are now born of God, so you partake of his divine nature. God is the King of Kings, and he has made you a King.

Romans 5:17
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

This verse says that we will reign. Of course, it’s by, or because of, Jesus Christ that we have this authority, but He has given us the authority to rule and reign!

Ecclesiastes 8:4
Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, what are you doing?

A king’s authority is absolute. When the king speaks, he speaks with absolute authority.
When God’s kings speak God’s words, God backs it up with power. This is not to glorify the word spoken in faith but to draw attention to the living Word of God who lives within you. When you reveal Jesus, your words bring salvation to the lost and freedom to the captives. You can drive out demons and heal the sick just as He did. In fact, Jesus promised that those who believe in Him would do exactly these things and even greater things (Mark 16:17–18).
You are a king, and your words have power; so speak, pray, write, just don’t be silent.

Luke 17:21
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

A king embodies the government of his kingdom. There’s a way by which proper governments operate; they follow principles. The kingdom of God is governed by principles found in His word. So as a King you must study, meditate, and live out God’s Word to reign effectively and efficiently. Yield to the Holy Spirit through fellowship with him, He will grant you insight and understanding of all things.

Now, if the Lord would rely on you this much, reigning through you, and committing such power to you, then you’re truly valuable to Him. Therefore, accord yourself the same value. Think, talk, walk, and live as a King, for indeed you are. You’re a custodian of divine knowledge and of Kingdom realities; Develop the mindset of Kings for you to be able to reign with God.

Our theme verse also says; God has made us Priests unto Him: A priest is not simply a religious figure (clergy) like we’ve heard but for one who is born again, God has made them a Priest.
So as God’s Priests; firstly we minister to Him, How do we minister to God? By offering/ sacrificing our lives to Him through Jesus Christ, that is having a personal & intimate relationship with Him and living a consecrated (separated) life that is completely yielded to him.

1 Peter 2:5
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Secondly, Priests make the Word of God known. When Jesus gave the great assignment in Matthew 28:19-20, it was to us, the Priests of God. He said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Malachi 2:7
For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. “It’s the job of priests to teach the truth. People are supposed to look to them for guidance.
People should seek, inquire for and require knowledge from you about God.
(Malachi 2:7-“For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth.)

The third responsibility of Priests is intercession. We’re like Jesus our High Priest, about whom the Bible says,

Hebrews 7:25
“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them”.

1 Samuel 12:23
Moreover, as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way. This shows us Samuel as a teaching priest who wouldn’t cease to pray for the people. Be like- minded. Pray often for all men!

The journey of a priest is a perpetual one i.e., it’s never ending. To be a king seems more alluring compared to being a Priest, but I say; the two are mutually dependent. Submit the Kingly power to the Priestly anointing and your journey in God will be fruitful. Don’t stop interceding for people. Keep serving God faithfully, He who called you and chose you is faithful and will surely complete the work which He started in you.

Prophetic Utterance:

Father God, thank you for choosing me to serve you. I am privileged to partner with You in fulfilling your will on earth. Father, cause me to maximally manifest as a King and a Priest, serving and reigning in life to Your Glory and Praise.
