1 Timothy 1:3
³As I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia, stay on where you are at Ephesus in order that you may warn and admonish and charge certain individuals not to teach any different doctrine.
Timothy was to stay behind and to warn others not to preach any other gospel: about grace and law..
Perhaps we are where we are for a reason, no one is where they are by mistake , be it a family, a nation , there is always a purpose therein.
We are not where we are by mistake , rather we are positioned for a purpose . Joseph was not in Egypt by mistake, though he might have been separated from his family, frustrated by the fact that his own gave him away even to the point of death, still He found purpose where he was.
Genesis 45:4-8
⁴Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! ⁵And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.”⁶For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. ⁷But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. ⁸“So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.
In the same manner, Esther found purpose when she got her royal position to save her own people who stood to be made extinct in an annihilation.
Esther 4:14
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Here Timothy was urged to stay at Ephesus, I can only imagine him being Paul’s son wanted to move and go with Him, but he had to stay. Unlike Abraham who had to move , Timothy is to stay, Abraham’s time to stay had ended and it was time to move ( Genesis 12) , Timothy’s time to move hadn’t reached and he had to stay.
Perhaps you are where you are for a purpose, perhaps you were born in that family as the light, it may be improverished, un wanted, not the kind you would delight in but perhaps like Esther You arise and intercede, teach and grow with them. Perhaps you are at that place for a reason!
We should be keen to listen and heed to God’s guidance relates where we are, Esther heeded, Timothy is asked to stay, it was a choice whether to obey and stay or not, if the instruction is to stay, stay and work in God’s purpose!!
Even Jacob, a supplanter established the 12 tribes of Israel in whom we see the greater purpose of God manifest even amidst all folly, Good will always prevail even in a darkened place if God be in it.
Prophetic Utterance:
I am positioned for God’s purpose, obediently I arise in that purpose, thank You Father Lord , for your purpose prevails .
