Hebrews 7:9-10
9And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. 10For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
Levi was one of the sons of Jacob whose tribe was chosen to be a priestly tribe. Paul is showing us that Jesus is a priest like Melchizedek pointing out that the tribe of Levites who were ordained to receive tithes also paid their tithes through Abraham when he tithed to Melchizedek. Hence making an outstanding point that Christ is greater than the Levitical priesthood in whom we can attain a level of perfection that is unattainable through the Levitical priesthood.
Ultimately, the belief in Christ as our high priest and savior allows us to find redemption and experience a new spiritual birth. We see that Levi paid tithes yet he was in the loins of His father Abraham. It is crucial to know that your deeds can be counted on your children, no wonder we are born sinners.
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Under the law
Exodus 20:5
that God is He that visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
Ezekiel 18:20
²⁰The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father; neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Ezekiel brings it more to light, showing us that it is only when these children walk in the same path of wickedness that it is counted unto them nevertheless he that turns from His wickedness shall live. However, how can one turn from his wickedness without Christ!!
Mathew 1:7-8
⁷And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa; ⁸And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
Roboam was a wicked king after Solomon and after Him reigned His son Abia who took on the same wickedness, nevertheless, wicked Abia begot king Asa who did well in the eyes of God, the trend continues in repetition as you read the genealogy of Jesus (2 Chronicles 12:14; 1 Kings 15: 3, 2 Chronicles 14:2).
Herein we see that a wicked person can produce a wicked person and at the same time, he can produce a good person, showing us that sin is within us, however, each of us can choose our path regardless of our lineage. You can choose to either walk in the path of wickedness or embrace the Gift of righteousness, for this, we are grateful for Christ who births us anew.
It is only through the righteousness of Christ that we stand righteous and can live. As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10). Our preservation is therefore secured in Christ, seen when blood and water gushes out of Him. Jesus one one deed of righteousness causes us to be counted righteous.
Romans 3 24-25
²⁴Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: ²⁵Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.
It is therefore on this account that those who are born of God are partakers of His nature (1 Peter 1:3).
Are you aware that you were born a broken vessel but Jesus has made You whole, you have been given a new birth and made perfectly righteous in Him?
Prophetic Utterance:
1st Peter 1:3-5
³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, ⁵Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
I am revealed in Christ Jesus
