A heart after God

2 Samuel 7:1-2
¹And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;²That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

After king David had found rest round about, his heart kept on searching for what he could do for God, The same longing to please God that was in his heart as a shepherd boy was still there even when he became king, this reveals something about David’s character that it was never about the victories and the rest that God had given him but it was about what would please God and His desire for God. He never desired fame or things of the sort but he desired God. The state of our heart will reveal whether we love God or not, whether we were just using God as a means to an end or not. Because David’s heart was after God, he could not bear living in the palace while God lived in a tent ( the covenant box dwelling in curtains) His desire was for God to have a better and more permanent dwelling place(temple) but even after God rejected him from being the one to build the temple by reason of his hands having spilled so much blood, David never took offence at all because the condition of his heart was right with God, he not only desired but honored God too.

Proverbs 23:26
My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways

The bible says God doesn’t delight in burnt offerings but a broken heart, one that is willing and obedient towards God, Our hearts are the trays that carry anything honorable that we want to give to God. God desires that our hearts are right with Him both in our motives and motivations. Anything that we do should be void of selfish ambitions but should be done in faith to bring honour and glory to God. We must emulate Christ in our daily walk with God.

Mark 14:3-4
³And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.⁴And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

The above woman poured the precious ointment on tourist as an act of true worship, this was similar to pouring out her heart to God yet the people around Jesus never got that understanding and shredded her action to pieces in their heart.

John 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Many that believe that their best sacrifice is a natural thing may not know that God reserves the right to reject offerings that are presented with ignorance, everything projected toward God must be done with clean hands and pure Hearts.

Prophetic Utterance:

My sacrifices oh Lord are a broken heart and a contrite Spirit
Father I choose to observe and walk in your ways
You alone oh Lord are my hearts desire
Father I choose to love and dwell in your presence.

⁶But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.⁷Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.⁸But the LORD said to David my father, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou didst well in that it was in thine heart:
