My assignment: A publisher of Gods Word

Luke 10:1
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

What is my assignment? Many are bound to ask this question because they seem not to know why they are on earth.
Today I have great news for you, your assignment is in our opening scripture. You have been called, set apart and sent to be fishers of men in every area of your life be it the market place, family, work place or pulpit, be a publisher of Gods word.(Psalm 68:11)

Luke 1:16
¹⁶And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.¹⁷And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

From the above scripture, John’s assignment was clear, he was to turn peoples hearts making them ready to receive Christ and we see that John carried out his assignment perfectly

Matthew 3:5-6
⁵Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,⁶And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

John carried out his assignment that even when his disciples came to him asking about Jesus, he urged them to follow Christ because everything he was doing was supposed to point to Christ.

We like to joke that when John finished his assignment he tried walking in a different assignment (Marriage counseling) which got him killed.

Child of God, do not leave your assignment, to try out what others are doing because that’s not what you were called to do. Hands cannot do the work that legs do because they weren’t designed for that purpose.

John 21:7
Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

The disciples after Christ had died left the assignment of Christ and went back to their old ways (fishing). They were unfruitful the first time before they followed Christ (Luke 5:5) even now they still were unfruitful because they had left their purpose. When you try to use your own strength, you go back to the beginning.

Child of God stay in Christ regardless of the circumstances, that is the only place you will receive fruitfulness from.

John 15:4
⁴Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.⁵I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

When you set Him aside and try to do life on your own, or forget your assignment and go about your old life, you will achieve close to nothing just like the disciples.

The Lord has already done a great work providing for our salvation, He said it is finished therefore walk in His finished works(seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these will be added unto you)

All He requires from us is that we spread His work and word near and far.

Prophetic Utterance:

I execute my assignment to perfection
The Lord is in and with me, whom shall I fear
Nations seek to hear the words that I speak
I am a labourer in the vineyard of the Lord
