Matthew 7:21-23
²¹“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.²²Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’²³And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
The Greek word for “God’s will” here is “thelema” which refers to God’s desire or purpose. It is what He desires and intends for us to do.
Matthew 6:10
“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
God ‘s will is done; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven?? Revelation gives a glimpse of what is done in heaven, Angels and saints worshiping day and night ( Rev:7:15)
God’s will or desire is to see a people deeply intimate with Him in worship but how can they if they have not believed for as it is also written clearly showing that He desires all to believe in the son and be granted eternal life and therefore have that access of worship, coming boldy unto Him.
John 6:40
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
The first step into walking in God’s will is to “do” and the greatest to be done is to believe!! Once we believe we affirm that we have agreed with God and are willing to walk hand in hand with Him , in His guidance which comes also through his word. Mere belief as James points out is not enough, even devils believe !! What distinguishes a true believer from a non believer is your faith expressed through obedience; doing or walking in God’s will.
Amos 3:3
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” .
The scripture above illustrates the profound disconnection between God and the people of Israel, who had deviated from His divine path, indulging in sin and injustice. Two individuals cannot traverse a journey together without a mutual purpose or accord thus a genuine walk with God requires us to align in harmony with His will.
Can two walk together unless they be agreed? No!! It is no wonder Jesus says it is written in the volume of the book to do your will!! Jesus came in the volume of the book and fulfilled that which was written of Him , that which you have been ordained to do , have you done it or walked in it as per the days that were fashioned for you in the book? You are an original , there is a life prescribed for You, a way to live , a way to walk, the question is : Are You living your volume of the book? I mean , are you living the new life Christ has ordained for You: His eyes saw your substance, being yet unformed. And in His book they all were written, the days fashioned for You, when as yet there were none of them.( Ps: 139:16)
It’s not that your life is now dictated by a set of rules but rather that Your heart is aligned with God’s. Like David, whose soul pursued God’s presence relentlessly, your spirit seeks alignment with the divine will. You walk as Abraham walked-faithful and trusting-like Noah, steadfast in obedience, and like Enoch, whose life was a continuous communion with the Creator.
This alignment is not passive adherence but an active, living relationship: worship that springs from love, repentance born of sincere self-awareness, and a deep longing for intimacy with God. Your priority becomes His will, your desire to please transcending self-interest. In this walk, your life is both a response and a reflection, a testament to the profound truth that to walk with God is to find the fullest expression of your own being.
Isaiah 29:13
Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
Mere affirmations and Godly gifts are far less than what God wants from us. Moses saw the signs and wonders as well as did them nevertheless he sought to know more of Him ..it’s not about the mighty works but getting a deeper side variation of Him. Many claim to know Jesus yet vainly living a life out side Him but still affirm ; Lord Lord.
John 10:27
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (KJV).
He knows them: Those who hear which also includes to hearken and do. So when Jesus says: I never knew you, it implies they never walked in his will and were never His! We are not like the un believers who claim to know God yet in works deny Him as scripture elucidates: He that claims to know God and doesn’t do His commands is a liar
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
³“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication. ⁴That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour. ⁵Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God.”
The one God knows is he that loves him as it is written: But if any man love God, the same is known of Him. And he that loves him does his commands.
God’s will is revealed to us through His word, the Holy Scriptures. Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. To follow God’s will, seek wisdom from His word. Wisdom isn’t just knowing, but living out what we learn. Align your life with Scripture, letting it guide your thoughts, actions, and decisions.
Prophetic Utterance:
” Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. ” Amen.

Colossians 1:9-10
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
