The God of the Living: Exceeding Abundance

Genesis 49:26
²⁶The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

Jacob blesses Joseph and asserts that His blessing ( the blessing of the father ) prevail over those of the fore fathers! How possible is that? This verse highlights the idea that the blessings of God compound and increase with each generation, they aren’t limited or depleted over time but rather grow and multiply transcending time and lineage.

Exodus 3:6 (KJV)
“Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.”

God appears to Moses in a burning bush, commissioning him to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and introduces Himself to Moses as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This covenantal relationship underscores God’s faithfulness and promise to exceed the blessings of the past. He is the one who carries out His promises to future generations. Meanwhile, Genesis 49:26 affirms this truth, declaring that the blessings of Joseph’s father surpassed those of his ancestors, extending to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills.

He is the God of the living, the covenant was carried on through Abraham to Isaac then Jacob culminating in Christ which suggests surpassing of previous boundaries…The God of the fathers is greater than the God of the fore fathers, He says I will do exceedingly much more than you think , even when you are thinking of the flourishing of your forefather, He does more than He did to your father…
Abraham flourished but Isaac flourished the more, nevertheless Jacob saw God’s exceeding abundance… Elisha saw more works of God than Elijah, a man whose bones resurrected the dead.

Jesus said ;
John:14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

In other words Jacob is directing us to focus on what God intends in His covenant, it is for us to look at our forefather’s life and know that He offers us even a more exceeding greater work. They flourished amidst the famine, amidst opposition, amidst trickery but you will much more flourish amidst all odds. They did great exploits but you will do even much more, the former is greater than the latter. He will do much more than the past works. God’s promise remains: “I will do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

Ephesians:3:20
²⁰Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, ²¹Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

God’s presence and power will be manifest in unreferenced ways, a greater move of God, our father is a God of new, each day and time expect God to come through for you and in you in a different dimension.

As believers, we often reflect on God’s past blessings and miracles, but we must not limit Him to yesterday’s works.. Isaiah 42:9 reminds us, “Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” This verse underscores God’s desire to do something new and greater in our lives. God herein guarantees to restore Israel not as before but as far greater than the past restoration. Rest in God’s sovereignty, knowing He unfolds events perfectly.

Gideon asks in a Lamentation;
Judges 6:13-14
¹³ And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. ¹⁴And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

Prophetic Utterance :

God’s promise of abundant life is my reality. I am a conduit of God’s abundance, overflowing with blessings , surrounded by His favour, His goodness pursues me.
Halleluya
