The Unshakeable One.

Luke 6:47-49
⁴⁷Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: ⁴⁸He is like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. ⁴⁹But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.

Two men are building, but on different foundations, one on sand and the other on a rock. Sand is unstable during rainy or windy seasons and hence not suitable for building upon. Just imagine building your dream home and it is swept away suddenly. All your hard work, time, effort, and the costs therein all go down the drain. Devastating right?

Jesus in Matthew 7:26 refers to this as foolishness, there is no pity for this sad man.
Mathew 7:26
²⁶And everyone that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

From this passage, we understand the importance of a strong foundation. A quality foundation is the backbone of the structure and supports the weight of the building or structure above. Without a proper foundation, the building or structure above can shift, crack, or even collapse, resulting in costly repairs or worse, injury or loss of life. Don’t we all love beautiful homes that will last forever? We, therefore should choose the right material as the foundation which is the Word of God.

We should not only hear God’s word but also do it. Simply being moved by God’s word, simply being convicted of the truth, or simply intellectually accepting what Jesus says is destructive. Passion, conviction, and faith without obedience and action are futile and foolish.

While on the journey of salvation, many things come to shake that which we have believed, but if you are walking in God’s word, you are unshakeable. You will still have joy in chaos. You will have peace that makes no sense and that is because you are not held by your strength. You are held by the Word which is God Himself. For the Word is not just a concept; it is God Himself.

If you get in the habit of doing or applying the Word, your life will be transformed. And it will be beautiful, you will say, “Wow! Why did I wait so long to do this?” Take an example, when God led the Children of Israel to the Red Sea, He instructed Moses to stop crying and stretch out His hand. God could have done it himself, but because He had already given His word to Moses and given him all the authority to do it, Moses had to do it himself. He had to stretch out his hand over the sea and parted it. (Read Exodus 14:15-31)

At the Jordan River, when all of Israel was at the Jordan, the water from the upstream stopped flowing immediately after the feet of the priests were dipped in. (Read Joshua 3) We will only highlight verses 15 and 17:

Joshua 3:15 & 17
¹⁵And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overflowed all his banks all the time of harvest)
¹⁷And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.

The power of the Holy Spirit is triggered by your obedient, faithful action. The very moment you obey him, he gives you the power to do.

Prophetic Utterance:

Dear Father, I thank you for the blessing of your Word. Through it I’m guided in divine wisdom to walk and fulfill your will for my life, bringing you glory as I produce works and fruits of righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

James 1:22-25
²²But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: ²⁴For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. ²⁵But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
