Acts 26:13
¹³At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me..
A light above the brightness of the sun! What is that light that shines above the brightness of the sun? Paul narrates to King Agrippa of his encounter with Jesus and states of how he saw a light from heaven above the brightness of the sun while on his way! This takes us back to Genesis. The Creation account gives us an allegory pointing us to Christ the Light of the world, in whom there is no darkness for as the scripture expressly says:
John 1:1-5
¹In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ²The same was in the beginning with God. ³All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ⁴In him was life; and the life was the light of men. ⁵And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
When Paul saw this light, his life was never the same! There was a tremendous turnaround in his life. The man who lived a chaotic life persecuting Gods people sees a light that leaves his life changed. When light breaks forth, you simply know that darkness must retreat (it cannot stay).
2 Corinthians 4:6
⁶For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
In the Genesis, we see it is written that:
Genesis 1:1-4
¹In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. ²And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. ³And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. ⁴And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
“If God is Light, why did He say ‘Let there be Light’ when He Himself is the Light? The answer lies in the fact that God is the very essence of Light. He simply manifested Himself over the void and dark earth, filling it with His radiant presence. When we say ‘Let there be Light,’ it is a call to the Light within us to break out and dispel the darkness around us, for we carry the Light of God within us – an embodiment of Himself. And as we know, where there is Light, there can be no darkness.” We speak as He speaks and manifest His very light.
“The earth was formless and empty, described by the Hebrew words ‘bohu’, being an undistinguishable ruin. In simpler terms, it was a place of disorder, unproductivity, and darkness, bareness. However, the Light within us brings order to the chaos, fills the void, and makes the unproductive productive.
As John 1:4 says,
⁴’In Him was life, and this life was the light of men.’
Creation needed God’s Light to flourish. The earth was without form and void, and everything in this world needs Light to be complete. Nevertheless, the light of God brought order to this this chaos, filling the void with substance and making the unproductive productive. The light of God brought life to creation, setting it free from its formless state.
Mathew 4:15-16
¹⁵The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; ¹⁶The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
Just as the land of Naphtali was once in darkness but saw a great Light, we who have encountered Christ and have experienced his transformative Light can also spread this Light and cause people to come out of darkness to His marvelous light as He has called many.
Prophetic Utterance:
I am the embodiment of Christ
I am the Light as He is the Light,
I blossom with His Glory,
He makes straight my path.
“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”
