Timothy 1:3
As I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia, stay on where you are at Ephesus in order that you may warn and admonish and charge certain individuals not to teach any different doctrine.
Timothy was to stay behind and to warn others not to preach any other gospel: about grace and law..
Perhaps we are where we are for a reason, no one is where they are by mistake, be it a family, a nation, there is always a purpose therein, outside purpose, men start to veer off the right path into another doctrine, Timothy’s role was to be a guardian of the people from contrary hearings, wring doctrine will cause wrong believing and thus wring living.
We are not where we are by mistake , rather we are positioned with a plan for great purpose. Joseph wasn’t in Egypt by mistake, though he might have been separated from his family, frustrated by the fact that his own gave him away even to the point of death, he found purpose where he was.
Genesis 45:4-8
Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.”
In the same manner, Esther found purpose when she got her royal position to save her own people who stood to be exterminated.
Esther 4:14
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Timothy was urged to stay at Ephesus, I can only imagine him being Paul’s son wanting to move and go with Him or even later execute his passions, but he had to stay in line with purpose, a guardian of true doctrine. Unlike Abraham who had to move, Timothy was to stay, Abraham’s time to stay had ended and it was time to move ( Genesis:12), Timothy’s time to move hadn’t come and he had to stay put.
Perhaps you are where you are for a purpose, perhaps you were born in that family as the light, it may be improverished, un wanted, not the kind you would delight in but perhaps like Esther You arise and intercede, fast, teach and grow with them. Perhaps you are at that place for a reason.
We should be keen to listen and heed to God’s guidance as relates to where we are, Esther did heed. Timothy is asked to stay, it was a choice whether to obey and stay or not, if the instruction is to stay, stay and work in God’s purpose.
Today one great contradiction to our purpose is passion, uninformed zeal and Lusts, these are very strong emotions and convictions that we must have to live on this earth, only submit them to God. If your passions can be absorbed in ministry, let it be, and it shall work out well.
Prophetic Utterance:
I am positioned in God’s purpose, obediently I arise in that purpose, thank You Father Lord , for your purpose prevails.
Lead me Father in all Your counsel and I will do it,
