Strong’s Concordance defines countenance as “the face (as the part that turns);” with that being said, someone or something is able to turn your countenance (appearance, character, visage) for good or for evil.
Whose countenance is being revealed through you.?
Proverbs 27:17
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Who is your friend? Who is it that you are allowing to influence you? Jesus has called us His friends. Are you allowing Him to sharpen your character/appearance?
John 15:15
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Or have you allowed the world to sharpen your character. The Bible says that bad company corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33). If you allow to associate yourself with the world it is very easy to taint your character. The world can only offer you something temporal and only things that can satisfy you fleshly and not your spirit and at the end of it all, the flesh will fade away….
1 John 2:15-17
¹⁵Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.¹⁶For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.¹⁷And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
However when you choose God as your friend to sharpen your countenance, He will use His word to judge your thoughts and heart, it will leave nothing unturned and when the word has tried you, you are transformed to the image of who God is, in otherwards His character is embedded within you because as you read the word you become the word..
Hebrews 4:12 (Amp)
For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
Prophetic Utterance:
My countenance reveals God to all creation.
The world is influenced by me because I have the spirit of God in me.
I am the word of God revealed unto many
