A forerunner by definition is “a person or thing that precedes the coming or development of someone or something else.”
Eli and Samuel
1 Samuel 3:2
And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
Much as Eli’s eyes were dim (couldn’t see both spiritually and physically) and his children rejected, God still respected his office (the priestly office) that when He was calling Samuel He spoke like Eli. God will meet you at a point where you understand and for Samuel it was Eli (his spiritual father.)
God is not going to skip hierarchy because you have more gifts than they that went before you (He is no respecter of persons) He will give you your message through them that carried you to that point where you are right now.
Moses, Aaron and Miriam
Numbers 12:1
¹And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.²And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
Aaron and Miriam were anointed, they were also prophets and true to their word, the Lord spoke to them too. Why then was the Lord wroth with them when they murmured against Moses?
Numbers 12:8
⁸With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
Aaron was a high priest, the one that atoned for the sins of the Israelites. The only one that was allowed into the Holy of Holies, he was the one that was eloquent and maybe these made him think he was Moses’ equal but God didn’t think so.
Jesus and John
Matthew 3:13
¹³Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.¹⁴But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?¹⁵And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
John was the forerunner that made straight the way for one greater than him, one who he was not even worthy to untie His sandal (John 1:27). Jesus with all His power humbled Himself before John to be baptized. No matter how great you are, how many miracles you can perform, how wealthy you have become, there comes a time where you have to humble yourself to the one that went before you, the one that prepared a way for you because through them is your destiny fulfilled. (Luke 22:24-27)
Prophetic Utterance:
Father cause me to find my footing with those that are predestined to advance my purpose.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right
Luke 22:24-27
²⁴And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. ²⁵And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. ²⁶But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. ²⁷For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
