Return to your first love

Revelation 2:4-5
⁴Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. ⁵Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Because of God’s profound love, He meticulously chose and put man in the garden of Eden a place of beauty and convenience where their relationship would thrive. Right from the point of creation, God intended that man should always live in communion and constant fellowship with Him.

That is why God would move freely in the garden of Eden and talk freely with man until the serpent introduced a contrary knowledge that caused a divide and strain on the relationship between God and man but because God is love, He gave up Himself to redeem humanity back to himself.

John 3:16
¹⁶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God has loved us with an everlasting love not because we have earned or deserved but because love is His name and nature, and we being made in Gods image are a part of God and ought to absolutely depend and remain in constant fellowship with Him. Much as God is not a School Master and has given us freewill, prioritizing our relationship with Him is for our own good because in Him we live and move and have our being. When we walk out of the love of God like the prodigal son, we become vulnerable.

We ought to love God above all. The scripture says, “You shall not have any other god besides me” so anything else that we prioritize above God is a form of idolatry and walking away from our first love. God calls us to remember from where we have fallen and repent. Falling away from God comes with receiving and accepting a contrary knowledge to the word of God, thus after the fall one must remember and turn back to the word of God for the word of God is Spirit and life, a great restorer that renews our minds into the light of Christ.

2 Chronicles 7:14
¹⁴If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The scriptures urge us to remember a time when we had truly met Jesus, when He was our very all, our pleasure, our passion; our hope and our life and return to that.

Dare to trust God again. Dare to love God again, have faith and hope and cast all your burdens unto Him for He cares for you. Remember that God is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

Prophetic Utterance:

I come boldly to the throne of grace to receive Mercy in my time of need!
Yes, I arise in humility and return to my Father, My first love!
I am the one Christ loves and I receive forgiveness of sins by His love!

2 Corinthians 7:8-10

⁸For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. ⁹Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. ¹⁰For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Song of Solomon 8:6
6Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
